The Pineapple

37 St George’s Road, BS1. 1997 – present.

The third gay pub in the Frogmore Street area, capitalising on the business attracted to the Griffin and the Queen’s Shilling. It opened in Spring 1997. A small pub with a rather cramped bar area, it put on regular Sunday night spots with karaoke or drag acts.

For a few years a small and rather struggling Mardi Gras weekend was staged in the car park opposite the Pineapple until it folded with financial problems in 2007.

  2. I was the licencee of this fantastic pub in the early 80s . Annie and I had some great times running what was then a very busy pub. How sad it is now closed.
